Hitachi bravely launched a company and a new product line into the
crowded notebook PC category. Hitachi hired us in March 1996.
The campaign broke in May.
Business strategy: Position company as a provider of strategic communications
tools. Optimize machines to take you effortlessly online right out of the box.
Brand strategy: we named the company 'Hitachi Mobilized Computing', themed
the campaign 'Remote Control'. And repeated the mantra, 'make things happen
wherever you happen to be.'
Result: Hitachi blasted from a standing start to top ten in market share
within the first year. The fastest hardware ramp-up ever recorded.
